Fact #8

Fact #8: Now I was never too keen on giving Andersen the pacifier. I didn't want him to get hooked and turn into a 2 year old walking around with one in his mouth. A little white trash if you ask me. He never really took it all day long and then just randomly we were only giving it to him at nap and bed time. Occasionally if we were out to dinner and he would get cranky, we would give it to him to give us time to finish a meal. Pathetic I know, but it worked. Since he's turning 1 on Monday!!!!!!!!!!!!!!.......I wanted to stop giving it to him cold turkey. There was no point in weaning him because he barely got it anyways. So last Thursday night, I took it away. He cried for 30 minutes. Heart breaking, but I knew it might be tough. Friday night, it was 20 minutes. Saturday (while hanging out at my paren'ts...story still to come) I just laid him down in the pack n' play (for his nap) and he only cried 15 minutes. Throughout the day he didn't even seem to notice that it was gone. Sunday, same thing...I laid him in the pack n' play (now at my aunt's house swimming) and he fell asleep in 10 minutes...man this is easier than I thought. By Monday and Tuesday this week, he "fussed" for 5 minutes and was out cold!....Amazing! I'm so glad this was easy. I've changed his routine and it seems to of worked. I use to feed him a bottle while we watched Mickey Mouse Clubhouse and put him to sleep in my arms and then lay him down. Now he gets his bottle in his room, I hold him for 5 minutes, tell him it's Night-Night, turn on his mobile and put him in his crib, and walk away. Loving it..... Now if we could get him to take more than a 20 minute nap???

Don't jinx yourself or us on the pacifier or the bedtime!
