Casting

Well yesterday was the day Little Man got his cast on his arm.
But let me just say, even with his 1/2 cast on he was still rambunctious and climbing up and down from the table and chairs. At one point he fell off the smaller chair onto his bad arm. And of course he hurt his bad arm...sigh...the life of a wild child.
So the doctor came and took off his 1/2 cast and you could see slight swelling in his arm. She said there is fluid in his arm, but that will be absorbed into the body. And boy did his arm stink. I thought I was going to gag from it...I can only imagine it's going to be worse when he gets his cast off.
He picked out orange which is his favorite color! Thankfully it's not neon orange. But even if it was, I wouldn't care, because at the end of the day, it's whatever makes him happy.
They had two nurses in the room. One to bend his arm and hold it while the other wrapped it. I got the pleasure to hold his good arm and his body.
And man oh man that was torture. I was fighting back tears as Andersen kept saying "owie", screaming, and crying. He was in so much pain. Thankfully Kevin and I gave him some Tylenol with codene before we went back so I think that helped some because he was perfectly content as soon as they were done.
I was so proud of him! He did great!
He thought he couldn't use his arm like when he had the 1/2 cast, but he's slowly learning that it's protecting his arm a lot better. He's climbed up into my bed using it, got out of his carseat by himself, and even walked Kip's dog with the bad arm.
We get the cast off in 3 weeks. The day before we leave for camping. I'm excited because now he can ride his bike, go swimming, and play ball...but I'm not gonna lie, I'm incredibly worried he's going to hurt his arm again, even though it will be healed. I'd rather keep it on until we get back just to make sure...but I know he'll be ok.
